County Librarian's Message
Hello and welcome to Gaines County Library System's Webpage! My name is Jane Bering. The Library staff and I are pleased to bring this newly designed Web site to you.
We are here to meet the needs of our patrons to the best of our ability. We welcome comments and suggestions on what materials need to be added to the collection and what new services you feel Your Library should offer to the public. We will endeavor to meet the needs and the wants of our patrons.
Gaines County Library System's open source software system - Bywater Solutions Koha - allows patrons to log on to their account from any computer with their unique log in and password. Patrons must initially set this up in person, with identification, through the Library after which they can renew their items from home - create reading lists both private and public - and search the new colorful catalog.
By registering a personal e-mail with the Library staff, through this new software, patrons will receive e-mail notification 2 days before their material is due allowing them to go online and renew their items up to 2 times - movies 1 time. Notification is also sent via e-mail when reserved material is ready for pick up.
Take time to look through the TAB located at the top right-hand side of the home page entitled "Pipeline Safety Information." In the event of a gas line rupture, emergency phone numbers are available along with numbers to call before you dig or excavate. There are laws governing every Texan when it comes to breaking ground. Be sure you know the rules before you dig.
On this Web page, under “About Us”, patrons will be able to contact us even when we are closed and ask us questions and fill out Interlibrary Loan requests. This service allows us to borrow material for you from outside Gaines County. We have a lot of room to grow into this Web world. We invite you to explore Your Library on the Web.
The Gaines County Library branch in Seminole offers DSL lines on the Internet computers. Both the Seminole and Seagraves branches offer WiFi for our wireless patrons.
If you have any questions please call us at 432-758-4007 (Seminole) and 806-546-2480 (Seagraves).
